Outside Sales Rep
Full Job Description
We're working to build a team that can depend on each other for one another's success. We believe Mondays shouldn't suck and that people are meant to be a part of communities that build things they're proud to call their own. If you want nothing more than a paycheck from your work week, this job may not be for you. We'll give you more than that and we expect the same in return.
Outpost Construction Supply provides full supply and delivery of construction materials to north Colorado contractors in the commercial, infrastructure, and multi-family development business. Our sales representatives focus on personal, on-site relationships that help us identify, warehouse, and deliver materials whenever needed on a planned or “just-in-time” basis.
We are looking to add an Outside Sales/Business Development position to our profitable team of salespeople.
The Place (who we are):
Family-owned business. We are a small team but have decades of experience in the industry, and our recipe for success is proven and documented; we intend to grow through the strength of the team we build, our customer relationships, and our ability to deliver excellent experiences for our customer.
The right size. We’re streamlined, efficient, and ready to distinguish ourselves from everyone else out there by delivering DIFOT – deliveries in full & on-time
Reputable. We have built a solid and respected foundation and brand in the Denver and north Colorado area, so you can develop business with full confidence in our ability to provide outstanding products and timely service wherever needed.
Value-driven. Our 4 core values are:
Putting people first
Being dependable
Taking ownership
Honoring God
The Position (what we are looking for):
Be Active. The perfect way to stay away from the 9-5 desk job and be outside without having to break your back. You'll travel to jobsites or local construction offices looking to develop long lasting and trusting relationships.
Meet people. Meet and get to know the contractors and their teams on construction sites who rely on good suppliers to provide needed materials and tools to keep their projects on schedule.
Build relationships. Build relationships that help us become the first choice for the lines we carry.
Stay organized and be reliable. Learn how we do business in a way that generates commission for yourself and makes you reliable to your customers and your team.
The Person (what you have to offer):
The right fit. We’re looking for someone who will fit our culture and dedicate themselves to the team; we try to follow the culture of Humble, Hungry, (People-)Smart from the book The Ideal Team Player by Patrick Lencioni.
Self-motivation and self-management. Be able to organize your day, align activities to achieve end goals, and prove you’ve done that in any industry; we’ll give you tools you need and teach you a plan to succeed, but you must demonstrate a professional history that shows you have the internal motivation to get things done.
People skills. If you’ve been in a position where a winning personality, a smile, and the pure love of meeting new people is important, you can use those skills here to succeed and flourish.
Accuracy and reliability. Every first-time, drop-in sales call can turn into a sale for you, but getting that sale into the system and ensuring accurate delivery is a team effort; if you can incorporate work processes to ensure the right things happen in a sequence, you can learn the job and succeed with us.
The Perks (what we have to offer):
Plenty of sales opportunities. There is more construction than we can possibly keep up with, so you will be as busy as you want to be; we provide leads for you based on permits applied for, and we are looking for someone to take that information and opportunity to help build this business for long success.
Quality training. We’re looking for self-driven people, but we’re not sending a team member out in the field without training and a plan; we will teach you the products and the systems we use so you can hit the ground running
Great compensation. This is NOT a 100% commission sales job -- we offer training pay, a fair base salary, target bonuses, and sales commissions that will allow you to earn compensation that (at expected sales targets) can be worth $80,000-$120,000 or more within your first 2 years with an unlimited ceiling beyond that; our commission structure is above industry standard, and we’re highly accountable for tracking and paying you all that you’ve earned
The right tools. You will be provided with an expense account, fuel, vehicle allowance, phone, and a laptop; we don't expect you to succeed without our support.
If this sounds like an opportunity where you can apply your talents and gifts, please apply through Indeed and complete the Sales Assessment questionnaire. We’ll contact you if we think you might be a fit. We have a multi-step hiring process since it’s critical that we hire the right people, but if you are a fit, this process moves rapidly.
